    Hello,

There are several difficulties I have with this concept. Many rights I strongly support (universal suffrage, freedom of assembly, freedom of speech and so on). But other, more nebulous proposed rights I am skeptical of. A “right to a fair shot,” for example. Does this mean the right for a shot at wealth? If so why is such a right desirable? Affluence is harmful in the wrong hands, it is only a good thing when in the hands of someone whose use of it tends to foster a virtuous society. Wealth in the hands of many will do the exact opposite. There is also the issue of poverty: since it is a relative term which changes as social wealth increases, you really can’t abolish it–or strangely enough, you could greatly mitigate it by vaporizing a lot of the wealthy and their money, thereby making the poor less poor relative to standard wealth.
